WipeDrive will run a test on the hard drive before and after each wipe. It is possible to have WipeDrive run a more extended test prior to or after the wipe. This test can be simply pass or fail on the general drive S.M.A.R.T. tests, but this can be tailored in the config file (wd-options.cfg)

Here are all S.M.A.R.T. test related options:

# Run a captive short SMART self test before beginning the wipe

# and fail the wipe if any self test has failed.

#smart-test-short=true

# Run a captive short SMART self test after the wipe process

# and fail the wipe if any self test has failed. (Added in version 9.5)

#post-smart-test-short=true

# Check for existing smart error logs before wiping and if more exist

# than the value specified below, fail the wipe.

#smart-error-log-max=0

# Check for existing smart error logs after wiping and if more exist

# than the value specified below, fail the wipe. (Added in version 9.5)

#post-smart-error-log-max=0

# Set the maximum allowed number of remapped sectors (as reported by SMART).

# Fail the wipe if this maximum is exceeded. The check for remapped sectors occurs

# before the wiping operation is started.

#smart-max-remap=0

# Set the maximum allowed number of remapped sectors (as reported by SMART).

# Fail the wipe if this maximum is exceeded. The check for remapped sectors occurs

# after the wiping operation has completed. (Added in version 9.5)

#post-smart-max-remap=0

# Set the maximum allowed value that a given SMART attribute will allow without

# failing the wipe. The check for the given smart ID occurs before the wiping

# operation is started.  NOTE: Provided in the format: ID,MAX_VALUE

#smart-id-max-value="197,0"

# for multiple tests put a semi-colon between value pairs

#smart-id-max-value="197,0;147,3;134,17"

# Set the maximum allowed value that a given SMART attribute will allow without

# failing the wipe. The check for the given smart ID occurs after the wiping

# process. (Added in version 9.5)   NOTE: Provided in the format: ID,MAX_VALUE

#post-smart-id-max-value="197,0"

## For the S.M.A.R.T. ID's you can visit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.M.A.R.T.

# You can control when SMART data is collected with the smart-gather option.

# Valid options: all, pre, post, none    (all is default)

# (pre = only gather before wipe, post = only gather after wipe)

# NOTE: if smart-gather is turned off some functions will be limited or

# disabled, such as drive life remaining estimation, failing wipe based

# on SMART data, ...

# Added in version 9.7.3

#smart-gather=all
