Current versions of WipeDrive will wipe the drive in it's native block size (512, 520, 528 and all their factors) and does not require formatting before or after the wipe.

So WipeDrive can wipe Block size of 4096 as this is an factor of 512.

Older versions of WipeDrive, like version 8 and previous would only wipe in a 512 block size, so if the drive was 520 it would automatically re-format the drive to 512, run the erasure, then format it back to 520.
