After setting up a new database the database needs to be populated (creating the tables). Or if a new release is made it could be be that the database needs to be updated. 

 

Those are 2 separate things, New databases always need to be populated first. If not done there will be an error message about the database having version -1 will be shown. 

 

If the customer wants to send an log to the database and it comes back with an error as shown in the snip below, the database needs to be updated:  

 

The error should always be something like “Database is version [xx] and WipeDrive needs version [xx]”  If this is the case you simply have to run the initilizer tool. This tool must be run from Windows OS that will be in the same network.

Install it on a Windows machine that can reach out to the database, or on the database server itself if it's in Windows. 

In case of the last option, you can use localhost as host name. 

 

Please make sure the settings are set like: 

Type:                MySQL Server or MS SQL Server

Database:         The database name you've setup

Host:                The IP of the MySQL server

Username:        The username that is created while setting this up

Password:         The password that is created while setting this up

 

Click on ‘populate database’ if all fields are filled in. Please note it will hang wile populating the database. Please leave it there, it will continue after a few moments.
